Introducing the Tradesmen's Safety PLC - SmartGuard 600
Thursday, December 10, 2009
The SmartGuard 600 is designed for SIL 3 applications which require a degree of complex logic. The base unit includes the CPU, 16 safety inputs, 8 safety outputs and an embedded DeviceNet communication port. Using this DeviceNet port the SmartGuard can control up to 31 safety distributed I/O nodes, in addition to communicating to standard PLCs and HMIs over a DeviceNet network. The SmartGuard is programmed using the RSNetworx software via a USB interface.
The main advantage of the SmartGuard is the ease of use, which will have users of all experience up and running quicker than expected. Necessary information about error codes and node address are displayed on the alphanumeric display, while all input/output status is displayed by LED indication. Communication parameters are set by rotary switches and dipswitches on the front of the unit.
Programming of the SmartGuard is performed in an editing environment that is inside RSNetWorx. Programming is achieved by simply dragging and dropping the pre-certified safety blocks into the program. All the common safety instructions have been TUV certified and include functions such as E-stop button, light curtains, etc
