Founded in 1959, Reer began its activity
as a distributor of electric and electronic
components for the OEM industry,
quickly becoming the most important
Italian distributor of professional lamps. It
still is today.
Thanks to the Company’s strong
technical vocation, an industrial
activity gradually developed alongside
the original commercial function. Reer
started manufacturing sensors of different
technologies, especially relying on the
optoelectronic and magnetic types. It
eventually specialised in photocells.
The first safety sensors were designed
and built in the middle of the 70’s. In a
few years Reer became the market leader
of safety light barriers in Italy, while
industrial safety became the Company’s
most important source of income.
The Machine Directive marked a turning
point for accident prevention in Europe;
the introduction of the CE-marked models
meant a further strengthening of Reer
market presence.
In January 1998 the Safety Division
quality system was certified by TUV as
being in compliance with ISO 9001.
The safety barriers range continues to
grow. The main models are now ULlabelled
(both for US and Canada) as well
as CE-marked. This is a sign of growing
importance of export in Reer sales,
thanks to a commercial network that now
covers all the most important
industrialised countries. That’s why Reer
is becoming more and more a reference
point for historical presence, quality and
service.
