Sales Cadet Program

Luke Bonaccurso NHP

Meet Luke Bonaccurso – NHP Sales Cadet.

Q. Why did you choose a Sales Cadetship with NHP?
A. I worked in the Internal Sales department for a year and then decided to apply for the Sales Cadet position because I saw it as a natural progression to becoming a Sales Rep. It was a good opportunity to learn how each department worked and also to meet more people within the company. One of NHP’s greatest assets is its back-up support, and with my desire to become a Sales Rep, I thought it would be a worthwhile exercise for me to build relationships with the people I will be working with in the future.

Q. When did you commence the Cadetship?
A. March 2008.

Q. What is your overall impression of NHP’s Cadetship?
A. My impression is that it is not too dissimilar to an apprenticeship. You get to learn how the whole machine works and how to solve any issues when they arise. To be able to spend time in each area of the NHP business so as to develop an understanding of the entire process, from the original enquiry to the customer receiving their goods, is an experience within itself.

Q. What kind of work have you undertaken as a Sales Cadet at NHP?
A. I think the question should be, “What work haven’t I undertaken at NHP?” Everything from answering pricing enquiries in sales, to quoting jobs in estimating, spending time with products, planning and entering bill of materials, helping organise jobs in manufacturing, building boards, building starters to testing in the Test Room. I don’t think there is a facet of NHP that I haven’t dealt with during my Sales Cadetship so far.

Q. Describe your learning and development opportunities at NHP?
A. I think there are many opportunities depending on your interests. Being exposed to a lot of different areas of the business has given me the opportunity to learn a lot of great new things that will certainly help me in the future.

Q. What has been your most memorable Sales Cadet experience to date?
A. I think the whole experience has been one memorable moment. Getting to build new and exciting relationships and acquiring an understanding of each department is a fantastic thrill for me.

Louay Jarouche is now an NHP Sales Representative after completing his Sales Cadetship.

Meet Louay Jarouche – NHP Sales Cadet.

Q. Why did you choose a Sales Cadetship with NHP?
A. It was an excellent opportunity. I'd just completed my Engineering Degree at the University of Western Sydney (Kingswood Campus), and thought the Cadetship provided a great opportunity for me to get some real life experience, as well as furthering my knowledge in the industry.

Q. When did you commence the Cadetship?
A. 16 January, 2006.

Q. What is your overall impression of NHP’s Cadetship?
A. I think it is an excellent program, providing Cadets like myself with a great opportunity to work and learn with one of the leading Electrical Engineering Suppliers in the industry.

Q. What kind of work have you undertaken as a Sales Cadet at NHP?
A. My work rotation covers all aspects of the business. I began in the warehouse pick/packing area, learning all about NHP's supply chain. Next was the workshop where I gained some hands on experience building distribution boards and getting a feel for NHP's Products. Then Internal Sales, where I learnt all about credits, how to use NHP's product catalogues, order entry and customer service.  From Internal Sales I moved to Estimating, building my quoting skills and understanding of drawings and specifications. Estimating provided a great introduction to the Engineering the team who helped further develop my technical knowledge of products. The strong grounding I received from all of these areas helped me to prepare for the next major stage in my training and development - spending time on the road with our Sydney Sales Reps and customers.

Q. Describe your learning and development opportunities at NHP?
A. With the size of the company and the wealth of knowledge of its staff, the learning and development opportunities at NHP are truly endless.

Q. What has been your most memorable Sales Cadet experience to date?
A. The program as a whole is something that I wouldn't forget. It has been a slow, but very valuable learning curve.
